MORGAN PHILLIPS DOT COM
None of you watch Naruto Shippuden, right?  Episode 166 just went up on Hulu (they’re uploaded a week after they debut on Japanese TV), and I’m devastated.  Only the untimely commercial breaks stopped me from sobbing to the point of puking.
A peculiar (nerdy) problem:  I don’t know anybody who’s seen every episode, much less the 200+ episodes of the original Naruto cartoon to which this series is a sequel; and I’m unable to seek out other nerds on the internet, because each time I’ve done that I’ve stumbled onto insanely huge spoilers.  The show is an adaptation of a popular manga series, so anyone else geeky enough to watch (literally) hundreds of hours of cartoons about magical teenage ninjas has already read those Japanese comic books, and knows everything that’s going to happen.
Over the last few episodes they’ve brutally murdered several important characters (something they’re never afraid to do), but this latest one was f-ing perverse.
It’s pretty clear that next episode Naruto is going to let himself be possessed by the spirit of the nine-tailed fox spirit imprisoned within his body, even though that’s pretty dangerous.  He has no other choice — after all, Sage Mode didn’t do the trick!  Even with his clever tactic of leaving meditating shadow clones at Frog Mountain!
NOBODY KNOWS WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT.
