People can care about two or more things at the same time.  People can actively work toward substantial goals that help make the world a better place and also have strong feelings about television shows.

  • “30 million people don’t have healthcare so we’re gonna yell about something that has nothing to do with us!”
  • “Who cares about same-sex couples being discriminated against, I want Conan to be on this shitty network!”

Not as catchy, I guess. I love Conan, but there are more important things to get in a huff about.

Go fuck yourself.

See! This is what I’m talking about. Getting riled up about real issues that matter - facing this generation’s struggles with a full head of steam.

Sorry Jay, but if you are going to follow me or my comedy friends, you are going to see a lot more of this type of thing than from ‘regular’ people.  Most of us are frustrated and appalled with a lot of ‘real world’ shit, but I think a lot of us are too exhausted and depressed and hopeless about it all to comment on our tumblrs, which we mostly use to amuse one another.  And it’s Conan - he’s a huge pillar of New York comedy, and has helped a ridiculous number of people who post here, and others we’re friends with.  And other people we know feel less secure in their jobs now because of this bullshit.  And our sensibility in comedy, which aligns much closer with Conan (and Letterman) than Leno, is under attack in the mainstream right now, which sucks, and is something that frightens and angers us.  I dunno man, our opinions are our opinions and we get to have them.

Sorry for speaking generally, comedy friends.
